 Relics From the Crucifixion

by J. Charles Wall

144 pp. paperback

In Relics from the Crucifixion, we read of the events of Good Friday in a new and mysterious way.  Enterprising Catholic investigator J. Charles Wall scoured the writings of the ancients to draw forth from those pages an account of the many relics of the Passion found in Jersalem  by St. Helena, and which from there were slowly dispersed throughout Christendom.  He writes: "It was the custom of the Jews to burn the crosses used by the Romans for the execution of malefactors, but the haste observed on this occasion to get everything out of sight before the feast of the Passoover readily accounts for these three crosses being thrown into the city ditch, or a hole, and buried from view, instead of the longer task of burning."  This preserved the actual crosses, and memory of the events preserved their location.  Not only the crosses, but many others of the relics were found and reverently preserved.

The author cites the many reliable sources available to tell the wonderful story of the preservation of these, the most sacred relics of Christianity.

  1. Relics From the Crucifixion

A really interesting book detailing the relics of the Crucifixion of Jesus and how they were obtained and distributed throughout the Christian world over time. It is an easy read and answers a lot of questions. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it for anyone interested in the history of these relics and what has been said of them by saints and kings.
